The experience
Along the Grand Canal, look towards the Peggy Guggenheim Collection Palace, Gritti Palace, Santa Maria della Salute and Punta della Dogana. Near La Fenice Theatre and Mozart House, the waterways are narrower, with bridges overhead and façades close beside the gondola. The two settings give you very different views of Venice in one ride.

Make it your visit
From the gondola, the water becomes your path through the city. The Grand Canal gives you space to take in the waterfront palaces; the smaller canals bring the buildings close enough to notice doors, windows and bridges as you pass.
Choose the ride for that change of perspective. If you enjoy hearing the stories behind what you see, choose a commentary option; if being together is the priority, look for the private gondola.
Your ticket
Read the named ticket’s inclusions before booking. A longer total experience can include activities before or after the boat ride.

Start with who you want beside you. Choose a shared seat if you are happy to ride with other visitors, or a private gondola to keep your group together. Then decide whether you would enjoy app commentary, a guide speaking live, or simply the view.
In daylight you can pick out details on the palaces and bridges. A later departure changes the light and the mood of the canals. Look at the times offered for your date and choose the view you would most enjoy.
Book ahead if you want a particular departure or a private gondola. You can also hire a gondola at a city station; that is a separate purchase with a per-boat tariff.
