01

What the combined ticket covers

On the guided palace and basilica tour, a guide leads you through Doge’s Palace, including the Bridge of Sighs and New Prisons, then into the basilica’s first-floor area and terrace when open. It’s a helpful way to see the two landmarks in one visit.

St Mark’s complex has several areas, and admission can vary. Take a look at the spaces named in your ticket so you know what your visit includes. This guided tour includes the first-floor area and terrace when open.

02

What changes if the basilica closes?

The basilica may close to visitors at short notice. If that happens, the tour may visit San Zaccaria church and its crypt or the Correr Museum, depending on availability. If entering St Mark’s is the main reason for your visit, keep that possibility in mind.

St Mark’s is an active church. Its visitor terms explain that paying visitors cannot enter during religious services, so the visit may change around the church’s schedule.

03

Dress and arrival matter even with a ticket

For the basilica, cover your shoulders and knees, and bring valid identification. The first-floor route includes steep, sometimes uneven stairs, and the combined tour is not suitable for wheelchair users.

You’ll still pass through security at Doge’s Palace, even with priority access. The group meets near the Alilaguna office at San Marco Giardinetti; follow the arrival time and directions on your confirmation.

04

Guided tour or separate visits?

The combined outing is a good fit if you’d like a guide to connect the palace, basilica and square as you go. Separate visits leave you free to linger over a favourite room or spend more of the day in one place.

Before planning another timed activity, check how long your visit is expected to take. If you hope to stay longer at Doge’s Palace after the guided portion, leave some space in your afternoon.
